Who We Are

Who are the people behind The Rusty Shingle?

Couldn't resist this photo opp. The truck matched Ange's Orange Mood.

Meet Jim, her Renaissance Man, and his Creative Lady, Ange who have been crazily married 34 years and are parents to 2 teen sons. Our sons have always been home educated and they are now using Penn Foster High School to complete their home education. We share our lives with our cats, Watson, Ms Kitty, Fluff and Skittish. Through those 34 years, we have filled our lives and home with vintage goodies (true statement, some items that we bought new are now vintage. Who knew that 34 years could go by so fast.) We also love the look of rustic and re-purposed items and enjoy sharing our art and finds with others.

Jim

Jim has remodeled several homes for us in the past 34 years, he keeps our vehicles running and takes care of our family. He is the ultimate Good Guy. Jim enjoys working with metal, trailers, welding and fabrication. He likes to come up with new ideas for old things. He loves spending time in the peace and quiet of the country, especially around the Kiamichi River, draft horses, beekeeping, and woodworking. Oops, forgot to mention street-rods, hot rods and western movies.

Ange

Ange would love to better emulate the Proverbs 31 woman, if only she had the staff & time to do so. Forever will not be long enough to learn everything on her bucket list. Some of the things that she enjoys doing include witnessing about her God, Jehovah,  taking care of her family, reading, cooking, learning about herbs and essential oils, Pinterest, learning about websites and blogging, crafting, crocheting,  and completing the vintage Feed Sack quilt topper that Jim bought for her. Can’t forget to add British dramas and mysteries, anything Austen, Christie, Conan Doyle, Sayers or Chesterton to this list. Here is a link to her other persona, as a Notary Public.

So what will this blog be about? Are you kidding me? Did you see all those lists up there? On any given day, you may find a post about:

  • Rusticity
  • Cats
  • Books
  • Sewing
  • Thrifting
  • Welding
  • Vintage
  • Bees
  • Re-Purposing
  • Teens
  • Pinterest
  • and on
  • and on
  • and on

There will be humor (we hope), there may be pathos, probably some nostalgia and a little bit of drama so we hope you stay tuned as we continue this, our Rusty Shingle life, together.
